How Can Overpopulation Impact Local Environments and Resources?

Overpopulation can really hurt our local environments and resources. Here's what happens:

  • Resource Shortages: When there are more people, they need more food, water, and energy. This can quickly create shortages.

  • Loss of Natural Habitats: To make space for everyone, we build more homes and farms. This can destroy the natural homes of animals and plants.

  • Increased Pollution: More people mean more waste and pollution. This can hurt local ecosystems and the animals living there.

  • Carrying Capacity: Every area can only support a certain number of people and animals, known as carrying capacity. If we go beyond this limit, it can lead to serious problems in nature.
