How Do Conduction, Convection, and Radiation Differ in Heat Transfer Mechanisms?

Heat transfer happens in three main ways:

  1. Conduction:

    • This is when heat moves through direct contact.
    • For example, a metal spoon gets hot when it sits in a hot drink.
  2. Convection:

    • This is how heat moves in liquids and gases through movement.
    • An example is when warm air rises and cool air sinks in a room.
  3. Radiation:

    • This is when heat moves through invisible waves, and it doesn't need anything to carry it.
    • For instance, you can feel the warmth of the sun on a cold day.

Each of these ways works differently, but they are all important for understanding how heat moves!
