How Do Energy Transfers Between Trophic Levels Affect Population Dynamics?

Energy moves through different levels of the food chain, and this can really affect how many animals there are:

  • Inefficiency: When energy goes from one level to the next, only about 10% of it actually gets used. This means there are fewer animals at the higher levels.
