How Do Latitude and Longitude Determine Location on a Map?

Latitude and longitude are important numbers that help us find any spot on a map.

  • Latitude tells us how far a place is from the equator. The equator is at 0°, and it goes up to 90° at the North and South Poles.

  • Longitude tells us how far a place is from the Prime Meridian, which is at 0° longitude.

The coordinates for Stockholm, Sweden, are around 59.3293° N for latitude and 18.0686° E for longitude.

With these numbers, you can easily find and get to any place on Earth!
