Measurement units are super important in science and our daily lives. They help us understand and compare different things in a clear and consistent way.

There are two main systems of measurement: metric and imperial. Knowing how these units work can really boost our math skills, especially for Year 8 students.

Metric Units
The metric system is based on tens. This means it’s easy to change from one unit to another. Here are some common metric units:

• Length: millimeters (mm), centimeters (cm), meters (m), and kilometers (km)
• Mass: milligrams (mg), grams (g), and kilograms (kg)

Using these units helps us measure things accurately, whether we are in the classroom or out in the world.
