Particle arrangements are really interesting because they help us understand how solids, liquids, and gases behave! Let’s look at each one:

Solids:

  • The particles are packed tightly together.
  • They have a fixed shape and volume.
  • Strong forces keep the particles in place!

Liquids:

  • The particles are close together but can move around.
  • They have a fixed volume, but no fixed shape.
  • The forces between the particles are weaker than in solids, which lets them flow!

Gases:

  • The particles are spaced far apart.
  • They don’t have a fixed shape or volume.
  • Very weak forces allow them to spread out!
