Understanding Triangle Congruence with SSS and SAS

Have you ever wondered how we decide if two triangles are the same shape and size? There are some special rules to help us—let’s look at two of them: SSS and SAS.

1. SSS (Side-Side-Side) Rule:

• The SSS rule says that if all three sides of one triangle are the same length as the three sides of another triangle, then they are congruent (which means they are the same)!

• Then those triangles are congruent!

2. SAS (Side-Angle-Side) Rule:

• The SAS rule tells us that if two sides of one triangle and the angle between them are equal to two sides and the angle between them in another triangle, then the triangles are congruent!
• For example: If we have sides a and b with an angle C, and they match up with sides a' and b' with angle C', like this:
  • If a = a',
  • b = b',
  • and the angle C = C',
• Then those triangles are also congruent!
