In What Ways Does Deforestation Impact Global Biodiversity?

Deforestation has a big effect on animals and plants all over the world in many ways.

First, let’s talk about habitat loss. Trees are homes for many animals. When we cut down forests, these animals lose their homes. This can lead to fewer animals living in those areas.

Next is fragmentation. Sometimes, when we clear some trees, small pieces of forest are left behind. These small areas can be too far apart. Animals can’t easily move between them, making it hard for them to find mates or food. This lowers the variety of animals in the area.

Lastly, deforestation plays a role in climate change. Trees help clean our air by absorbing carbon dioxide (CO2). When we cut down trees, there is more CO2 in the air. This can cause big changes in weather patterns and affects ecosystems everywhere.

In simple terms, deforestation doesn’t just hurt single animals. It can also mess up whole ecosystems!
