What Are the Best Strategies for Selecting Exercises for Maximum Gains?

When it comes to picking exercises that give you the best results, here are some tips that have worked well for me:

  1. Start with Big Movements: Focus on exercises like squats, deadlifts, and bench presses. These are called compound exercises. They work many muscles at the same time and help you build a strong base.

  2. Know Your Goals: Think about what you want to achieve.

    • If you want to get stronger, do fewer reps (about 1-6) with heavier weights.
    • If you want to build muscle size, aim for moderate reps (6-12) with moderate weights.
    • If you want to improve endurance, try higher reps (12-20) with lighter weights.
  3. Change Things Up: Switch your routine every 4-6 weeks. You can change the exercises, the number of reps, or try something new. This helps you avoid hitting a plateau and keeps your workouts fun.

  4. Pay Attention to Your Body: Listen to how your body feels. If an exercise doesn’t feel good, it’s perfectly fine to choose a different one that feels better for you.

  5. Keep Everything Balanced: Don’t ignore parts of your body that might need more attention. Include exercises that work those weaker areas to stay balanced and lower your chance of getting hurt.

By using these tips, I've seen great progress over time!
