Understanding Subject and Object Pronouns

What are Pronouns?
Pronouns are words that take the place of nouns in a sentence. They help us avoid saying the same noun over and over again. There are two main types of pronouns: subject pronouns and object pronouns.

1. Subject Pronouns

Subject pronouns are used as the main part of a sentence. They do the action of the verb. The subject pronouns in English are:

  • I
  • you
  • he
  • she
  • it
  • we
  • they

Examples:

  • I eat breakfast.
  • She studies every day.

Object pronouns receive the action of the verb. They are used as the object in sentences. The object pronouns in English are:

  • me
  • you
  • him
  • her
  • it
  • us
  • them

Examples:

  • The teacher helps me.
  • Can you see him?
  • I called them yesterday.

3. Subject-Verb Agreement

In simple sentences, the subject and the verb must match in number. This means:

  • He plays (one person).
  • They play (more than one person).

4. Verb Conjugations
