What Are the Key Milestones in Infant Development?

Infants grow and change a lot during their first year! It’s amazing to see how they reach important milestones.

Physical Development:

  • 1-3 Months: Babies learn to control their heads and necks. They can lift their heads when lying on their stomachs.

  • 4-6 Months: They start to roll over and may be able to sit up with some help. Most can grab objects, like a colorful rattle.

  • 7-12 Months: Around 8-10 months, babies start crawling. This often leads to them standing up and maybe even walking by their first birthday!

Cognitive Development:

  • 0-6 Months: Babies explore their world using their senses. They watch moving things and can recognize faces they know.

  • 7-12 Months: They begin learning how to solve problems, like figuring out how to reach a toy that’s under a blanket.

Emotional and Social Development:

  • 0-3 Months: Babies show their feelings by crying and cooing.

  • 4-12 Months: They start forming bonds with people. They smile at those they know and may get scared when they see strangers.

These milestones show just how exciting and interesting it is to watch babies grow!
