Changing the U.S. Constitution is a big deal and involves a few important steps:

1. Proposal: To start, an amendment can be suggested in two ways:

   • By getting two-thirds of both the House of Representatives and the Senate to agree.
   • By holding a national meeting with representatives from two-thirds of the states.

2. Ratification: Once an amendment is proposed, it must be approved to become law. This can happen in two ways:

   • By getting three-fourths of state legislatures (that’s 38 states) to agree.
   • Or by having conventions in three-fourths of the states vote in favor.

For instance, the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote, went through this process and was successful.
