What Are the Risks of a Sedentary Lifestyle on Mental and Physical Health in Youth?

Living a life with not much movement can really hurt both our minds and bodies, especially for young people. Here are some things I've noticed:

Physical Risks:

  • Gaining weight, which can lead to being very overweight.
  • Weaker muscles and bones because of not exercising.
  • Higher chances of getting long-term diseases, like diabetes.

Mental Risks:

  • More chances of feeling anxious or depressed, since exercise helps lift our mood.
  • Feeling less confident because being active usually makes us feel better about ourselves and helps us meet new friends.

Getting active doesn’t mean you have to go to the gym. It can be as easy as walking, riding a bike, or playing sports.

The key is to find fun ways to move. It really helps clear your mind and is good for your health!
