1. Identify the Event: What are you trying to find out? For example, maybe you want to know the chance of rolling a 3 on a die.

2. Count the Favorable Outcomes: How many ways can you get that outcome? For rolling a 3, there is only one way to do it.

3. Count the Total Outcomes: When you roll a die, there are 6 different results it can show (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6).

4. Calculate the Probability: Use this formula:
   $P(A) = \frac{\text{Number of favorable outcomes}}{\text{Total outcomes}}$
   In our case, it looks like this:
   $P(3) = \frac{1}{6}$
