What Common Mistakes Should Be Avoided in Cutting, Gluing, and Sewing?

Common Mistakes to Avoid in Cutting, Gluing, and Sewing

When you're working on a crafting project, it's easy to make mistakes. Here are some common ones to watch out for:

1. Cutting:

  • Using scissors that are old or dull can make your cuts uneven. About 30 out of every 100 hobbyists have this problem.
  • If you don’t measure your material twice before cutting, you might waste up to 15% of it.

2. Gluing:

  • If you use too much glue, it can take much longer to dry and can make your bonds weaker. This happens to more than 25% of projects.
  • Not giving enough time for the glue to dry can make it lose strength by half.

3. Sewing:

  • If you skip washing your fabric before you start, it can shrink by 10-20%.
  • If the tension on your sewing thread is wrong, it can cause the fabric to pucker. This happens in 40% of items sewn.

By avoiding these common mistakes, you can make your crafting projects turn out much better!
