What Drives Us: The Battle Between Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation in Learning?

When we talk about motivation in learning, there are two main types to think about: intrinsic and extrinsic. Let’s break them down:

  • Intrinsic Motivation: This type comes from inside us. It’s about being curious or loving to learn. I’ve noticed that when I’m really interested in something, I pay more attention and remember things better.

  • Extrinsic Motivation: This type is about outside rewards. Things like grades, compliments, or competition. These can help me work harder, but sometimes they don’t feel as satisfying.

Finding a balance between both types can lead to a really great learning experience!
