    • In a hypertonic solution, there is more dissolved stuff outside the cell than inside.
    • Animal Cells: They shrink and change shape because water is leaving the cell.
    • Plant Cells: They lose water, and the cell membrane pulls away from the cell wall, causing the plant to droop.
